万古文章有坦途，纵横谁似玉川卢？

真書不入今人眼，儿辈从教鬼画符。

Prose hath its proper way since days of yore,

Who now writes bold as Lu once did before?

Young scribes chase grotesque and gaudy style,

As true poesy delights their gaze no more.
