生当作人杰，

死亦为鬼雄。

至今思项羽，

不肯过江东。

 

A Verse by Li Qingzhao

(A Quatrain in Summer)

 

Alive, one shall be an unrivalled man,

And after death, still hailed a stalwart ghost.

We revere Xiang Yu, who’d rather die than

Flee o’er the River to its eastern coast.
