海上生明月，天涯共此時。
情人怨遙夜，竟夕起相思。
滅燭憐光滿，披衣覺露滋。
不堪盈手贈，還寢夢佳期。

The luminous moon ascends from the main,

Though far apart, we share its same domain.

Oft, lengthy nights, all lovers would complain,

Tonight, our yearnings will ne’er wane.

I snuff my candles, letting moonlight reign,

I rise, for dew dampens as drops of rain.

I cannot present ye its light though I’d fain,

Hence, I’d entreat dreams to bind us again.
