Chancing upon Li, of Luo Yang, Erstwhile Registrar by the Huai
By Wei Ying-wu
My humble hut lies by the olden pier,
Beholding River Huai flow forth from here.
Behind its sills, the dweller grows aged,
Before its gate, the autumn trees look drear.
A lone wild goose drifts o’er the cold mountain,
Through dusky rain, a distant boat draws near...
A farer who returns home — he greets me,
How could I e’er forget my friend so dear!
