别云间 - (明)夏完淳
三年羁旅客,今日又南冠。
无限山河泪,谁言天地宽?
已知泉路近,欲别故乡难。
毅魄归来日,灵旗空际看。
So Long to My Homeland: Midst Clouds
A Farewell Poem by Xia Wan-chun (Ming Dynasty)
For three long years I have roved here and there,
Until now — held captive by my foe’s snare.
My homeland, yoked by aliens, weeps in pain,
Who dares claim heaven and earth are still fair?
Tho’ I see my final days drawing nigh,
To bid my home farewell, I cannot bear.
My stoic soul shall return — I shall see
On high, where soul-consoling banners flare.
