晒舊衣 （清）周壽昌

 

卅载绨袍检尚存，领襟虽破却余温。
重缝不忍轻移拆，上有慈亲旧线痕。

 

Airing Old Robe by Zhou Shou-chang (Qing Dynasty)

 

O’er thirty years, the silk robe hath lain in the chest,

Though frayed at collar, it still holds warmth from her breast.   

So unwilling to tear the seams as I darn it,

For these are mother’s own stiches — so dear, so blessed.
