Heaven and earth — so vast, so wide,

The mortal world — a bustling tide.

Restless hearts crowd here and there,

Alas, placid minds are rare, rare.

He who stills his heart rests in ease,

Unshaken by the world’s unease.

Amidst noise, his soul stays serene,

To front chaos, he maintains his mien.

Regarding fame and fortune as clouds that fleet,

Dismissing grace or disgrace — a breeze too brief to meet.

Amidst the gaudy world, he carves a place of peace,

Sans soiled thoughts, sans vain caprice.

His heart finds solace in a lucid space

Where virtue blooms with silent grace.

He listens as whispering winds softly whirl,

He watches clouds drift, curl and uncurl,

He discerns the deep truths of Nature as they unfold,

Even in plight, his heart stays calm and bold.

No turmoil stirs within his heart,

No tangled feelings play their part;

No fear of what the days may bring,

No clinging to any bygone thing

A tranquil mind lets virtue grow,

And purer virtue tames each ebb and flow;

A tranquil heart makes wisdom bright,

A sharpened mind gives thought its flight.

He rids himself of vainglory’s gleam,

And sheds his pride in pomp extreme.

He finds tranquillity sublime,

As sages did in ancient time.

With peace within, their path began —

From self-cultivation rose the refined man.

Still within tames riotous without,

Softness disarms what strength cannot rout.

He observes the world with tranquil eyes,

And he acts calmly without disguise.

He chooses with his steady poise,

He discards without inner noise.

May all awaken to the grace of inner still,

And find their souls refined by serene will.

When all find peace within their life,

Their souls transcend through toil and strife.

Hence, still hearts engender a world so calm,

Serene minds breathe joy — free of qualm,

A life thus lived — auspicious, tranquil and refined,

The greatest fortune is for aeons enshrined!
