小儿垂钓 – 胡应能

 

蓬头稚子学垂纶，侧坐莓苔草映身。
路人借问遥招手，怕得鱼惊不应人。

 

A Fishing Boy by Hu Yingneng

 

Afar, a tousled boy’s trying his fishing skill,

Seating himself by the grassy and mossy rill.

A passerby hails him, but he’s waving to shush,

For he fears his fish are startled by any shrill.
