白梅 – 王冕

 

冰雪林中著此身，

不同桃李混芳塵。

忽然一夜清香发，

散作乾坤萬里春。

 

 

A Quatrain by Wang Mian (Yuan dynasty)

(White Plum Blossom)

 

She blooms in woods tho’ seized by ice and snow,

Not with peach and pear in dirty soil blow.

A sudden burst of her scent overnight

Brings vernal air to the world high and low.
