A Verse by Wan Yanliang
(Awaiting the Moon)
I ceased holding up my cup,
And let all singings be on hold,
Awaiting Silver Toad, from the sea, to leap high,
"Fie, whence doth the cloud come?" I loud cry,
“So colossal, it hath concealed the sky.”
I tug at my curly beard,
And strain to widen my stare,
“Oh, my sword be not sharp enow,” I sigh.
I’d cleave the cloud afore my eye,
Thus, at how bonny the goddess is I’d pry.
