山羊坡 晨雞初叫 - （元）陳草庵

 

晨鸡初叫，

昏鸦争噪。

那个不去红尘闹？

 

From dawn, the roosters crow,

Till dusk, crows caw in throe,

To the vanity fair who doth not fight to go?

 
路遥遥，

水迢迢，

功名尽在长安道。

 

The roads are long and slow,

The rivers endlessly flow,

On the path to Chang’an, vainglories glow.  

今日少年明日老。

山，依旧好；

人，憔悴了。

 

Today, though young, tomorrow, old you’ll grow,

The mountains, ah, no changes, no, no, no!

Yet the people, frail, tell the tale of woe.
