一片春愁待酒浇。

江上舟摇，

楼上帘招。

秋娘渡与泰娘桥，

风又飘飘，

雨又萧萧。

 

A surge of spring sorrow awaits fine wine to drown...

The boats on the river float up and down,

The wine-bars flag passers-by through the town,

The Lady-Qiu-Ferry, the Maid-Tai-Bridge, in sight,

In wheezing wind, they frown,

The pattering rain, their gown.

 

何日归家洗客袍？

银字笙调，

心字香烧。

流光容易把人抛，

红了樱桃，

绿了芭蕉。

When will I be home to wash the long robe of mine...?

To tune my flute adorned silver-line,

To burn the incense in my privy shrine,

Ah, time steals away to leave me in sorry plight,

But to red cherries to let them shine

To green plantains by its design.
