澳媒报导的第二批亚包中国军人遣返——流放在热带丛林中的抗日将士(附16)

自前中国军人战俘首批遣返人员自1946年底从新不列颠岛启程返回中国的上海之后，尚余400人左右仍在亚包等待遣返。因运输船只久久无法解决，留待遣返的人员又因国共冲突及其它原因，引致混乱，澳军当局和中国驻澳大使馆均十分重视。在这种情况下，澳方加紧联系船只，中方也频频催促。就是在这样的情况下，第二批遣返人员才最终得以在1947年8月启程，返回中国给广州。下面的这篇报导，就是说明在第二批军人遣返前，驻澳中国大使馆武官处派人前往亚包，处理相关事宜。 

CHINESE ARMY TO BE REPATRIATED FROM NEW BRITAIN
RABAUL, Friday

Lieutenant Lin, of the Chinese Legation in Melbourne, has arrived to arrange for the repatriation of the Chinese Army force, 500 strong in New Britain.

Illicit stills found outside and inside the Chinese camp by European and Native police started a fracas, in which bottles were thrown. One policeman was injured.

The brawl is one of many disturbances which have occurred, brie of which resulted in the death of a Chinese corporal.

The Chinese Army consisted of released prisoners of war held by the Japanese and transported to the islands as labourers.
