Travel to the West (5) :The Vancouver Seawall, Stanley Park

We did lots of walking/jogging while in  downtown of Vanvouver. I feel It is very safe to walk on the streets becaues there is seperated sections for wlakers/jogger, cyclist and drivers.

And Vanvouver has the world's longest uninterrupted waterfront path, called seawall. The seawall in Vancouver refers to the 22km (13.7 miles) walking, jogging, cycling and inline skating path that lines Vancouver's waterfront from the Convention Centre on Burrard Inlet (Coal Harbour), around Stanley Park and False Creek, past Granville Island and ending at Kitsilano Beach Park.

Stanley Park is a 405-hectare (1,001-acre) public park  that makes up the northwestern half of Vancouver's Downtown peninsula, surrounded by waters of Burrard Inlet and English Bay. It is about one-fifth larger than New York City's 340-hectare (840-acre) Central Park.

The Stanley Park Seawall covers outside of Stanley park and is about 8.8k long. A popular starting point for the Seawall walk is the east side of Stanley Park Drive by Coal Harbour.  From there the circular path will take you past a full range of Beautiful views of downtown/ north shore/ burrard inlet with a lighthouse, statues, totems, beaches, and the lions gate bridge along the way.

We visited Stanley park two times, but only explored tiny bit of it. In the first time on April 6, 2024, four of us drove an Evo ( See Evo Car share  https://evo.ca/how-it-works) to the entrance near the lake Lost Lagoon and returned Evo nearby. Then we strolled along the lake and visited the Stanley Park Nature House. We watched lots birds of Blue Heron and their nests. Stanley Park is home to one of the largest urban Pacific Great Blue Heron colonies in North America. Then we walked back along the English Bay, passing the English Bay beach and Sunset beach , and took a ferry to the Granville Island from the David Lam Park Ferry Dock.

There is a public food market in Granville Island which sell differnt kinds stuff. We bought some cheeses and smoked salmon in it .  Then we went to a seperated seafood shop "The Lobster Man" (https://lobsterman.com/) . We bought four different types of oysters. And then continue walking, passing the charleson park, going home by taking cambie bridge at Cambie street.

The second time on April 09, 2024, only me and hubby, we went to Standley park again mainly for walking/jogging the 8.8K Stanley Park Seawall. In fact, we walked to Standley park entrance, completed Stanley Park Seawall, and went to Graville island again, and then walked back. You will not feel boring walking in Vancouver.

Unlike other large urban parks, Stanley Park is not the creation of a landscape architect but rather the evolution of a forest and urban space over many years.

I like Stanley Park because I like nature and I long for the sea.
