Since there were only four people in this year's Chinese Year dinner, I stopped cooking after finishing Six dishes. Six (六) as a luck number mainly means smooth or well-off. In Chinese “六六大顺” means that everything is going smoothly
Plus the other two deserts or snacks, there are total eight plates of dishes. The number 8 is believed to be the luckiest number in China. 'Eight' (八) in Chinese is pronounced ba and sounds similar to fa (发) as in facai (发财), meaning 'well-off' or 'becoming rich in a short time'.
