其实除了大学职称,其他职称中国只有三级(初中高).而美国要么更细(工业界)要么更粗(医生).所以"主任医生=教授"恐怕不妥.

在日本,SCIENTIST系列有助理研究员,研究员,高级研究员,主任研究员,主席研究员.

在美国各公司scientist系列也不一样,举一个例子(FORTUNE500):
assistant scientist (BS degree entry level), associate scientist (MS degree entry level), scientist (PHD entry level), sr. scientist, principal scientist/sr. principal scientist, research fellow, sr. research fellow, distinguished research fellow etc. 而且各公司相同TITLE对资历的要求可能完全不同.所以中国的一元化遇到了美国的多元化,对等翻译很多时候是不可能的.

Post doctor是只有老中才用的中式英语,与"day day up"一个套路. 因为postdoctoral中post-是前缀,不能单独成词.其中的doc也不是指doctor(doctor作为PHD的称呼只能与姓(名)一起用). 英语里只有 postdoc 或 postdoctoral scholar/fellow/associate.

Postdoc: A postdoctoral scholar ("postdoc") is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.
