I guess a lot of u guys haven't got a chance to visit Sausalito, yet u probably have seen or heard about the movie Sausalito, which is more generally known as 一见钟情 in Chinese, starring Maggie Cheung Man-yuk and Leon Lai Ming. They finally reteamed in this movie three and half years after their last superlative costaring in Comrades(甜蜜蜜).
We visited the small town of Sausalito the other day. It's a ferry port town serveral miles to the north of San Francisco. The whole town seems to be divided into two parts, the commertial and the residential areas. We first stopped at the residential area. It's the typical terrain of SF and has typical housing which are built along the uplifting streets of the mountains. There is a Bay Model Musuem operated by the US Army. It's all about watershed management in the Bay Area. One model displays the main water stream in the whole State of California, with little flash lights running along the waterway. An interesting documentary was on in the auditorium inside. But we did not wait until the end of the documentary because our time was limited. When we were walking through the residential houses to the parking lot, we found many small gallaries and retail shops were hidden in the residential constructions. These are very small but elegantly decorated stores. Each store has a different theme of goods. For instance, one sells sculptures made in glass or bronze, another one serves clothing and facilities for Yoga practicer. But the prices are so high that they scared us away in a few minutes. We then made a mistaken judgement that this was all that the commercial area was like and decided to head back home. However, the journey had just begun. Only several miles on our way back, we came across a gorgeous picture of the setting sun, the deep blue ocean, and a prosperous commercial square. Before that, Li was dissapointed at the scenery in this town. It was windy and cloudy in the morning. Therefore, the sea appeared greish blue in the residential area. It was no different from other parts of the Pacific Ocean along our drive on Freeway 101. Here, the wind stopped and everything was gliddered in a golden color under the setting sun. Too many gift shops with numerous special arts and crafts in the windows. I couldn't help cheering at them. Finally, I bought four bracelets and a Tibetian Scarf from two stores. One is from the shop named Games People Play. I love the paper shopping bag they provided. So what' interesting about it? Guess! If you have no idea, look at the pic of it!Yes,it's a drawing from the Adventures of Hector Fuller, which is a good reading book for children aged 6-10:) The cartoon character of Hector is so cute and I actually bought the bracelets from this shop just for the free paper bag!
Finally, we had to leave early at six pm in the evening because the buffet restaurant which we planned to have dinner in closes at nine pm at night. I was so reluctant to quit shopping(even if many of the crafts are so expensive) that Li promised that we would make another visit to the little town sometime later. So we drove back on our way heading for the crabs and oysters. After all, I couldn't resist tasty foods either, lol!
