这首古老英国诗歌的作者，已经没有人知道了，李安把它选为电影理智与情感中演奏的歌词，配上了音乐，由英国女高音jane eaglen演绎。那个时候，玛丽安还没有恋爱，透着无邪和少年强赋愁的忧伤，心中向往着能使她焚烧的爱情。今天看到了这部电影的sound track，终于可以重温了。

李安在cd介绍中说，我并不想找一首纯粹描写爱情的诗歌，那样太过直白，我希望能找到一种能够反映玛丽安对于整个世界浪漫的态度，这是简奥斯丁小说和当时的诗歌绘画所充分发挥的特色。

这首诗歌，表现了太阳的沉睡和微笑，涓涓细流如同高山的眼泪，从忧伤的眼中淌出。每一个事物都透着浓郁的浪漫色彩，恰如其分地表现了清纯的玛丽安眼中的世界。
