第三波莴笋开始收获

第三波莴笋经过两月的生长，开始到收的时候了。


一片片打过叶的莴笋，生机盎然。


什么时候收，看顶，若出现小花蕾，可收。打去花蕾，一两天内也必收。此时，顶开始空，底下不空。若收早了，产量低；收晚了，空心。


今早拔了17根，大个头。还剩80多棵。


放上标尺，2寸，是大莴笋的标志。


跟俺手腕有一比。

由于莴笋要削皮，所以越粗越好，否则4-5个才炒一盘，而俺的大个只要一棵就足以。


差点忘了，又一麻袋莴笋叶，这是上面的叶，很嫩。

莴笋营养价值很高，且凉拌炒菜都行，是人人喜欢的菜，建议大家多种。

I put Chicken wire around the outside, and put broken glass pieces outside of the chicken wire fence. Very rarely the deer could come in. This year it did come and ate some peppers, but only one time.

No animal likes Celtuce (WoSun), it tastes a little bit bitter.

I worry field rats a lot. This year my sweet melon almost all bit by these guys. I killed more than 30, still more to go. Next year I need to use stake for the sweet melon.

Outside is much large, more important, it will not change my inside view. So my major summer veggies are outside.

I see that you plant some vegetables outside the fence.
Do you have deer or other critter problem in upstate NY?
