Greeting From America
阅读了不少有关回国礼品的文章和介绍,参照着买了这套“来自美国的问候“(Greeting From America)纪念邮票,应该说,这是我个人最喜欢的礼品之一。
邮票发行于2002年,全套50张,代表着美国的的50个州,是自1976以来,美国发行的第五套有关50个州的纪念邮票,前几套为50个州的州旗、花鸟、野生动物题材,这套邮票构思和设计借鉴了美国30-40年代甚受旅游者喜爱的明信片“来自美国的问候”,以大号字体突出了各个州的州名,背景设计为各个州著名的历史、风景、文化、花鸟标记,每张邮票后面简要介绍了该州的州鸟、州花、州树、首府以及建州日期。
邮票为整版的50张和各个州的单型张两种,就美观的角度而不是从收藏的意义来看,整版的看上去不如单型张效果好,把每个州的每张票分开来看,真是特色各异很值得品味,比如我所在的州宾西法尼亚(下图),画面上的自由钟是滨州费城的著名历史景点,大炮则代表的是美国南北战争期间宾州的历史重镇 Gettysburg,背景为宾州的著名休闲胜地 Pocono Mountains。
邮票发行于2002年4月,而酝酿和设计却早已开始,比如纽约的背景设计原本是著名的世贸双子大厦,911事件突发,设计者不得不在原有的基础上紧急修改,现在的背景是曼哈顿上空的天际线。
纽约的自由女神和尼亚加拉瀑布自是众所周知了。
一一浏览下来,对于熟悉的州,有着某种亲切感;对于不太熟悉的,可以一目了然的对其特色有个初步的认识,本意是地域特色的礼品,自己却从中学习了不少未知的东西。我本人并不集邮,还是爱不释手的多买了一套留给自己,希望这是份令人喜爱的礼品吧。
因为整版的图片看上去不理想,便花了点时间把每一张分开来贴,并且将网上读来的每张邮票的设计介绍列在了下边,由于自己对有些州不太熟悉,翻译起来恐生硬而不准确,欢迎读到这个贴的朋友们补充,以便大家共同学习分享。

BTW, according the logic of somebody here, the best gift will be money or rare metal.
1) not everyone is a stamp collector
2)even if you are giving the gife to a stamp collector, that is not really worth of collecting the U.S. stamps, because they issued lots of them, and it is very easy to buy them, unlike China or Hong Kong, if you want to buy any back dated stamps, it not easy to find all of them, and if you do find them, you have to pay more then the face value, in the other hand, you can buy lots of the back dated stamps from the USPS via mail order for the same face value.
