On Expression

Nothing can substitute for one’s need for expression. Not watching movie, not watching news, not surfing the internet, not listening to music, not reading.  Feelings not expressed or suppressed become poison.

A man sees himself only when he sees his expression.

Shallow thoughts can be expressed instantaneously and effortlessly, while the expression of deep convictions may need a lifetime.

Fear is always in the way of man’s expression of himself. Man’s expression confronts the society, thus free expression often requires forfeiting comforts.

Success is enviable because of the joy of expression.

“Man is only half himself; the other half is his expression.” - Emerson

I am the way, the truth, the life".
Yuan

胡涣 回复 悄悄话 谢谢Yuan and yes-no.
What an inspirational thought!

Just want to add one thing: expression, whatever it may be, is the crystallization of human's thinking, an ability that substantiates human beings from the animal world.

Without thinking, human is just another kind of animal; without expression, human would only end up the uncivilized specie. This can be further validated when we think about education, as education is the bona fide mean through which people can facilitate themselves a better way to express.
Yuan
