I am a member of our local toastmasters club. It’s a very good way to get comfortable with the public speaking ,meet new people, and in my case, practice my english. Ever since the pandemic,  We have a viral meeting every other week.

Last time, I participated with table topics. For those who don’t know the rule, the table topics master will give volunteers a topic, then you need give a one to two minutes speech right away.

The topic I gave was if you have a chance to ride a hot air balloon to travel to wherever you want, where are you going to go?

It’s a very interesting question. I suddenly remember I saw the article about the newly renovated Notre Dame de Paris which the roof and spire were destroyed by fire last year from wechat. The cathedral looked amazing by the Seine River! A stained glass roof twisted into a spire looks like a phoenix. how inspiring and glorious it is!

“If I can travel with a hot air balloon, I would love to travel to pairs to see how Notre Dame de Paris is rising like a phoenix! “

My fellow toastmasters are giving me warm applause. I am very satisfied with my performance.

After the meeting, I googled Notre Dame de Paris. I would like to see more details about the cathedral. Turns out, the article I saw on wechat is fake news. The so-called newly renovated Notre Dame de Paris is only a concept! And french president emmanuel macron having declared that paris’ beloved building would be restored to its original state.  Now I felt ashamed to spread fake news at the meeting. A big sigh, ha!
Lesson learned. You should always double check the source before you're spared a so-called news. Especially right now, after the very intense election. What’s your thoughts?

(For some reason, I can not post pictures here, otherwise I would like to add some pictures of visualizations of Notre Dame de Paris. They look magnificent indeed)

Thank you for reading. Please correct me if you see any mistakes. Until next time:)
