Overview
The Major Projects Office’s mandate is to advance major projects in Canada and streamline federal regulatory project approval.
We bring together people and processes to move major projects forward faster, responsibly, and sustainably, while respecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples and protecting the environment.
Our flagship initiative is the advancement of nation-building projects through the Building Canada Act. We are also supporting the Government of Canada’s review of policies, regulations and legislation to make changes to achieve a two-year timeline for all federal decision-making for major projects and supporting the implementation of the concept of “one project, one review” through cooperation agreements with willing provinces.
Our mission
To get nation-building projects built faster, accelerating sustainable growth, strengthening national unity, and putting Canada on a stronger path to long-term economic prosperity.
What we do
Collaborate with key partners, including project proponents, Indigenous Peoples, investors, and all levels of government, to facilitate the development of major projects that will benefit Canada.
Work to identify and advance nation-building projects through the Building Canada Act.
Act as a single window for project proponents into the federal regulatory process to simplify and accelerate project approvals.
Our work will be guided by an Indigenous Advisory Council to ensure that reconciliation, partnership, and Indigenous economic participation are embedded in the way major projects are advanced in Canada.
