AST home and community observation

Yangyang's first field trip. Greg & Steve concert. They took the school bus there. Afterward they went to Polliwog Park to play (YY told me). He was so tired after the trip.

Monica came yesterday to observe YY at home and in the community (we went to the park). YY was doing so well. He talked to Monica, he played with kids in the park, he talked to Tessa (a friend who we had not seen for 3 months), and he negotiated with other boys about cars, and he joined some kids for activities. Monica told me that she went to observe him in school last week. She was very impressed with the school, and was very happy to see him in such an excellent program (and all the boys were very well-behaved). The teacher was very impressed with YY too. He could persist in a task (preferred) for a long time and could play by himself (no surprise). I told Monica that I had been very pleased with his progress as well. Monica would recommend therapy for a few things including self help, transitions and cope with other kids when playing with cars, and such. She said that YY had so many strengths that she could see him having no problem in a few years.

I attribute YY's progress to his new school, and to my changed attitude toward him. I've learned a lot about improving relationship with kids, and about behavior management. I am paying him more attentions, and more conscious with my interference. I'm more patient and more playful. He seems to behave a lot more calmly and playfully too. I want think that all my hard work is paying off!

I won't write about Meimei here. Just one thing. She gets cuter every day.
