All About Attitude
In a perfect world, there would be no wars, no senseless bloodshed, no pains or bummers in peoples’ lives; each of us can achieve any objectives that a heart may desire; the sentiments of the markets would always head to the directions that are being hedged, no matter if they are put in long positions or short ones; parents would fully support their children’s wishes in choosing their lover without any prejudices; ladies would be sexy, beautiful and forever young, dudes would be gentle, strong, and perpetually faithful…
Wait a minute; I'm getting ahead of myself here, am I ? Obviously, my above descriptions are not the planet that hosts us today as we know it.
Unfortunately, the world of mine or yours for that matter would highly likely be anything but perfect. As a fact of matter, the reality we have to face could be afflictive, bitter, cruel and disappointing, time to time.
Speaking of pain and disappointment, I have to admit that I am not very good at managing letdowns although I am getting much better nowadays. To a large extend, thanks to 阳光美眉, I gradually realize that I am able to make a big difference if I’d refuse to be taken into hostage by frustrations, self-doubts and some other toxic emotions; instead, to make use of the struggles as a launching pad to assimilate, grow and enrich life experiences.
Coming into sight, 阳光美眉 does not look imposing in figure or character, and she does not have six-pack abs even she is becoming an avid rider as we are speaking; on top of that, occasionally she cries, yells like a teenage girl and threatens to jump down from Golden Gate Bridge if her demand is not met. (Okay, I am just exaggerating here to make a point. For the record,she has never made any suicidal attempt under any circumstance because she loves her daughter and her love ones so much.) Nevertheless, on the other hand, no one should underestimate or be fooled by her seemingly soft and sweet appearance, because underneath, she actually has a rather strong and resilient personality, which has been serving as a source to encourage me to challenge myself to do better and be tougher for almost 7 years on the roll.
A couple years ago, Conan O'Brien said in a commencement address, “The beauty is that through disappointment you can gain clarity, and with clarity comes conviction and true originality.” When I think about his words, I felt that it made a lots of senses to me: Although nobody can get everything that he or she wants, not to mention that disappointments and frustrations would appear always finding a way to permeate into our lives, yet when we have a positive attitude and determined mind, we can surely mitigate the woes, and at the same time, prepare us for a better, clearer and more strengthened position in future.
True, my life will be never perfect as seasons come and go, but I remain optimistic if the past could offer a hint of indication, plus I know she could be still there while wearing a sweet and soothing smile on her face.
