Renelda Mack, the outgoing president of the Board of Governors of the Emory University. After receiving her degree in English literature from Emory, Mack spent a year as a Bobby Jones scholar in Scotland, then went to law school at the University of Florida. She is now chief of the civil rights unit in the State Attorney’s office in the fifteenth judicial circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida.
From a girl member of the board to the president of the Council, Renelda Mack has brought a lot to Girl Scouting and to our community. As a girl member in 1979, Renelda was already demonstrating her commitment to and advocacy for girls. As a Senior Girl Scout, she was selected to represent our council at two Wider Opportunities.
She continued to serve Girl Scouts as an assistant leader to a Girl Guide Company while studying in Scotland. Renelda came back to serve her home council, joining the board in 1998 and serving as president from 2002-2004. During her tenure, this very busy civil rights attorney founded an innovative Girl Scout troop at a regional detention center, and helped girls explore careers in law.
Renelda is the Chief, Civil Rights Unit, Office of the State Attorney General, palm Beach County and Special Assistant United States Attorney. As part of her profession, she prosecutes hate crims and pursues violations of the Americans with Disabilities with Disabilities Act. On a personal level, renelda's passion for service has ranged from creating a Girl Scout Troop at the Palm beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center to leading Emory Universsity Alumni as Presendent. There she created a national and international program for the homeless and hungry.
