Friday, December 08, 2006,Joey Flores is another teenager who was shot dead in Palm Beach County. By itself, his death is not too surprising.
The 17-year-old was standing with three others in a crime-ridden neighborhood off Stacy Street in suburban West Palm Beach on Wednesday night.
A car pulled up and the people inside started firing. Flores and his friend were hit. Darnell King, 18, survived. Flores didn't.
It sounds like a simple case, two teenagers who had trouble with the law, probably shot by a rival in a drive-by. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has said it's possible this was gang- or drug-related.
But this isn't just Flores' story. He is one of 14 teenagers who have been killed so far in Palm Beach County this year - many of them fitting the same profile as Flores.
