退休：不为钱工作

前几天和朋友在一起，聊到退休以后资产管理，如何最大利益化，怎么省税等等。自然就谈到了退休的话题，什么时候退，退了有什么打算等等。我说暂时没有退的计划，因为没有想好怎么使用大把的时间。当然可以看外孙。临时帮忙没问题，长期不可以，我不喜欢。

两年前在领英上看到前同事退休了，他比我小，后来知道六八年的。当时两夫妻同时退，小儿子刚上大学。问他为什么退，说是太讨厌那份工作了。其实那份工作还是我把他拉进去的，差不多十六年前的事了。可是几周前他又在领英上找我，让我帮介绍工作。问他为什么，说是在家太无聊了。早知今日 何必当初呀。

我不计划退休，当然也没到年龄。我的计划是安排自己想做的事情，如果有一天时间不够用了就退出工作。当我讲到我的想法时，朋友说：其实当人们不为钱工作时，就是退休了。意思是有足够的钱支持自己的生活。我补上一句，保持目前的生活水平。当然不包括供孩子上学。我觉的这个观点确实有道理。

首先，不为钱工作意味着可以高兴干不高兴不干。这里指的是工作中一些不开心的事。第二不用察言观色，讨好别人。当然我的性格从来都不会的。第三不会整天想着升职加薪了，奖金评估了之类的事。总之就是高兴来高兴去。

至于退休生活一千个人有一千种过活，适合自己的就是最好的。

I found out most of the retired teachers that like their jobs don't want to retire. They either teach at community colleges or stay at public schools part time. I like teaching too. It's one of the best things I can do. I'm particularly interested in teaching mid grade math and social studies. Teaching history is one of my passions, such as Pharaohs, plagues and polio vaccine.
Besides that, I've found out there are many free activities at the senior center next to us. Even though I'm not even 50 years old yet I'd like to go check it out. It's summer time, my school is closed so I have plenty of time to hang out.
They have bridges, mahjongg, billiards, quilting, crafting, sewing, gardening, all these things that I'd like to try my hand on. The age requirement is 55+ but because it's all free I don't think they'd kick me out.
There you go, seniors could have meaningful things to do too. Life is good here, as a senior citizen. I'm looking forward to it. The only thing I don't like as a woman would be menopause and the loss of the female hormones. As soon as you hit menopause, aging gets expedited. And old age starts showing. All these people I know in their mid 50s look 15 to 20 years older than me. It's a bit scary.
