It was a mild spring morning. I told myself when I walked to my car at 7:05am, ready to drive my son to school. I didn’t notice the ground was almost fully sheltered with massive blue and purple cloud in sky till my car took me to the exit of the complex. Massive blue and purple clouds mean short but heavy rain being on the way, my deduction is based on my experiences and observations of last year.
Time was on March 29th, 9 days after the first spring day in North America. In the past a week, I was amused by the reddish brown, grayish white and green buds on bushes and trees, by the greenness on pastures and sports fields, by the tiny creeping white and purple wild flowers on the hill, by the yellow daffodil 水仙花in the gardens，by the fleeting sights of cherry red maple flowers pouring into my eyes here and there when I drove around the town.
After last Saturday’s try-out, my son was collected to the school lacrosse team. When I saw the practice scheme, I realized that joining the team is a big commitment, since practices were set up on every single day after school time. they can do their homework in cafeteria before practicing. My home is not far from school, walking from school to home will take about 15 minutes. in the past a few months, during nice days, with only backpack on his shoulders, I was happy that he walked home with other 3 boys who live close. but now with all the equipment added to his backpack, Walking home will be a torture to him after two hours’ energy-consuming practice. So I told my boss I have to leave around 4:30 everyday to pick up my son from school, my boss agreed.
Yesterday was a mild and breezy day, on my way to school, A few landscape impressionism arts fleeted through my eyes. One was an area of yellowish brown reeds circled by two tall maple trees with bloomed cherry red flowers, one was Christmas-shaped bush scattering from top to bottom with pale yellowish flowers(from my first glance, I thought it is forsythia , I was shocked and excited about it, but later I realized it’s a different bush I never noticed before.)
Rain came last night as predicated. the rain is benefical since it has been dry in March. After a whole night rain, it come a gloomy morning with nasty breeze. The temperature is lower than usual spring days. Weather forcast said it will have snow flurries this afternoon or tonight. April 1st, the April fools' day comes with spring snow, is it an April 1st joke? No. it's not a joke, having been living in New England for years, I know there still have chances of getting snow in April. If you don't like snow and cold air, hold your breath till May.
Since my son finished 2nd grade in China, from there he builds his foundation in Chinese-reading and writing. I joked around with him last night, I said I showed our converation on wechat with my collegues , they were shocked and said you are really cool, they even said with your billingual background, you will have more opportunites in the future. He didn't say anything, but smiled.
I also shared the story 爪四哥 posted, they asked where did the story happen? "New Jersey." I said. "Oh, then that's not a suprise! New Jersey people are very similar to New Yorkers. we call New Jersey "a younger brother of NYC!" since it's the first time I hear about it, I felt it so funny!
