(Forrest Gump and Bob Dylan)

Forrest Gump and Bob Dylan

如果您还记得“Forrest Gump” 中naked Jenny 在那个club舞台上捧着acoustic guitar边弹边唱的情景,那么您就会回忆起那首歌曲:“how many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man?" It is that famous song of "Blowin’ in the Wind"。

“Blowin’s in the Wind”,

另一首在"Forrest Gump "中Bob Dylan的著名越战曲子叫”All Along the Watchtower”.

这是一首被Jimi Hendrix 演绎得出神入化也由他唱红的歌曲( Jimi Hendrix 是当今历史上最伟大的guitarist, Number one on the Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest Guitarists of all time)。“All Along the Watchtower”, 也用于电影”Harmlet” 中掘墓人掘墓时的场景(different version), and “Mafia 3”主题曲(Trailer song, another different version)。

最后我还是忍不住要说一下Bob Dylan的另一首歌曲:“Like a Rolling Stone”.

Rolling Stone 曾经把这首歌列为 the greatest song of all time.

Bob Dylan早期的嗓子原始,粗糙,较冷较硬,在唱这首“Like a Rolling Stone”, 比其他所有版本都更好地表达了这首歌的feelings: despair, sad, lost, triumph, and 生活的无常。

Backcountry 回复 悄悄话 回复 'mapletea' 的评论 : in the last discussion, I forgot to say that you are right you don't feel sad, and he used the high notes for 控诉-like. The reason is that the narrator in the song is not the person who suffers from falling from the good fortune, but a displaced person who not only has no sympathy but feels revenge for the other's misfortune. However, when I listen to it, I always assume I am that unlucky one but the narrator. I think that's how we feel differently.
Agree it is gloomy, that's why I only listen to it when I am low. The song gives me comfort that i am not the only person out there feeling the same way.

Oh yes, "Hallelujah" is always better, no kidding -)))

歌里描述的生活地位或处境的根本反转,和在于困难处境时的“you cann't refuse" the things you, being like a princess, used to laugh at, 是一种无可奈何的sad and despair. No home, no direction, like a rolling stone, are exactly like what I felt when we first came here.

Triumph 指的是from the other side. The whole story is about two different classes, and how they see each other. I believe Dylan wanted to show when you have no choice to be the other side, how you would feel. It is actually a song about culture/young people in 60s and 70s, when the society and culture had dramatically changed, and how the young people see and feel, just exactly like Janny who got lost in the movie Of Forest Gump.
Nice writeup. Liked Forrest Gump.

Just read the lyrics of "Like a Rolling Stone." Gloomy.
The only cold comfort it offers seems to be:
When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal

In that respect, I like Cohen's Hallelujah better, which at least said:
Even though it all went wrong, I'll stand before the Lord of song.

Well. That's probably delusional, too;-)))
不过,我在“Like a Rolling Stone”中倒是听不出despair和sad。他有意提高和拉长的嗓音让我觉着他很rebellious并有点angry, 比如当他唱“After he took from you everything he could steal, how does it feel, how does it feel?"。被人偷光了,一无所有,于是他唱到,“To have on your own, with no direction home,Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone” 从字面上看,好像有点悲伤,但听他的原唱,like your own, no direction home, complete unknown, 全是上声,最后强音落在like a rolling stone上,我感到他在控诉那个偷他东西使他一无所有的“人”。
