外出旅行在中转机场的贵宾厅（VIP Lounge）等候转机，正好碰上两位美国总统候选人的首次大选辩论，闲极无聊，戴起 Bose 去噪音耳机听了部分内容。前总统川普规规矩矩（似乎很难得），仍一幅”愤怒”老汉的模样，面对观众将细节一一道来，当然攻击对手也毫不吝啬。有人说他中了对方的圈套，忙于解释，部分要归功于两位ABC电视主持人，也为辩论后川普决定不再辩论打下注脚，也难怪，谁还愿意再”对牛谈琴“，谁还有兴趣再赛一次而裁判执法不公。
另一方的现任副总统哈里斯，对着镜头款款而谈，很多时候的内容似乎是练好的台词，其连贯性和抑扬顿错本人太熟悉了。记得有一年参加一个制药界的国际会议，我的一项“烟酒“被大会选中为大会发言，由于该“烟酒“是本人一手“炮制“，公司只好赶鸭子上架让我准备演讲。对于我们这些早年来美的老中，英文写写还行，上台用英语演讲，而且对着上千人的听众，那种怯场可想而知，更别说人生第一次，简直是进入“死地”，但也有出路，那就是置于死地而后生。于是用自己一向的搬倒树捉乌鸦的老办法，说白了就是把讲稿反复练习直到它变成“小脑记忆”（机械记忆）。中国人说：熟能生巧，当你把一篇讲稿背得滚瓜烂熟，练出的发言自然而然地有了连贯性和抑扬顿错，于是一个令人“生畏”的演讲就诞生了，不明就里的人听了以后会觉得你好厉害。最后一天全体会议我的发言赢得了听众起立鼓掌，不少同事都来祝贺，之后的晚宴上，公司的大老板也挺着大肚子向我伸出他肥肥的右手，“Great Job！” 他对我说，肚皮差点先到。
扯远了，但听了这个小故事，你能明白从不开记者会的副总统哈里斯为什么能在辩论中慷慨激昂了。就连一开头走上前去握手都是“练”出来的，一种”强人所难“和”逼人就范”的强势。比如在辩论中人家对手已讲过“不反对堕胎“，只是对足月人工流产有异议，却引来哈里斯连篇累牍不分青红皂白的一通”讲稿”背咏。这并非是说哈里斯和我遇到的情况一模一样，只是可以类比而己。
这次辩论后民主党觉得他们赢“麻“了，各种民调领先满天飞，殊不知那种极左的专横跋扈，my way or high way 之 approach 早已将中间选民弄了个透心凉，如果民主党换个偏中间的候选人他们肯定弃川普而去，但并非这个中国人称之“见人说人话见鬼说鬼话”的哈里斯。看看她过去在加州的所作所为，看看今天旧金山的乌烟瘴气，以美国人民的智慧，他们能让哈里斯入主白宫？民调说哈里斯赢了，而决定此次大选的中间选民说："Don't give a dime！”
