中美对话中的翻译

已经有若干媒体对美方翻译吐槽：

例子：

We’ll also discuss our deep concerns with actions by China, including in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyber attacks on the United States, and economic coercion toward our allies.  Each of these actions threaten the rules-based order that maintains global stability.  That’s why they’re not merely internal matters and why we feel an obligation to raise these issues here today.

常规翻译：

我们还将讨论我们对中国行动的深切关注，包括在新疆、香港和台湾的行动，对美国的网络攻击，以及对我们的盟友的经济胁迫。这些行动都威胁到维持全球稳定的基于规则的秩序。正因为如此，这些问题不只是内政问题，也正因为如此，我们感到有义务今天在这里提出这些问题。

美方翻译：

那么，也因此，中国的诸多的问题，包括在新疆、香港和台湾的这个议题，以及对美国进行的网络的攻击，还有对于我们的伙伴以及盟国的进行的经济的这种胁迫的这种行为，对于世界的利益来说都是一种损害，我们当然不乐见。这个问题存在这不已经不是一个国家的问题，乃是世界的这个问题。

《金融时报中文》中美高层会谈中的一条“金句”及译文浅析

“position of strength”被中方翻译成“实力”，源于美国驻华大使馆自己的翻译：

“我们同中国的关系将在应当竞争的时候具有竞争性，在可以合作的时候具有合作性，并在必须对抗的时候具有对抗性。其共同点是应当从实力地位出发同中国接触”

 

（美媒）What the American Interpreter Got Wrong at Tense US-China Talks in Alaska (vice.com)

例子：

(Sullivan )“made major strides to control the pandemic, to rescue our economy, and to affirm the strength and staying power of our democracy.”

美方翻译：

“we effectively combatted the pandemic in a very short period of time, and in the meantime revitalized the economy, revitalized America’s power and strength in many aspects.”

（我）评估：“美国抗疫棒极了”

 

中方翻译张京，翻译“中国人不吃这一套”成“This is not the way to deal with Chinese people”，显然“软”，群众的“We Chinese don't buy it”好多了
