James Mason did great acting job of Rommel.
sharing your thoughts on the 1951 movie "The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel" is interesting.
The movie depicts the internal struggle of Rommel, who was a respected and skilled military commander during World War II, as he becomes disillusioned with the war and the Nazi regime. The film's portrayal of Rommel's moral dilemmas is a credible attempt to humanize a historical figure who is often portrayed as a one-dimensional villain in popular culture.
The movie also touches upon the issue of soldiers' moral responsibilities and the limits of following orders. It highlights the fact that soldiers have a duty to disobey immoral orders, and this message has continued to be emphasized in military training even today.
It's fascinating to learn about Manfred Rommel, the son of Erwin Rommel, and how he went on to become a respected and elected official in Germany. Overall, the movie's message of the importance of individual moral responsibility and the consequences of blindly following orders remains relevant today.

Excellent film with one big omission---that in late May 1944 Rommel, misled by incorrect bad-weather forecasts for the English Channel, went home for a family birthday and so was far from his forces on June 6th invasion day. It wouldn't have hurt the film to include that since we don't need such help to see him as a great commander and soldier. It was a human mistake.
