It's a feel-good story for the new year. And proof that we love a comeback story.

A YouTube video of Ted Williams, a homeless man with a golden radio voice, has gone viral over three days taking him from the streets of Columbus, Ohio, to the national airwaves. On Monday, Williams was homeless, begging for change and living in a makeshift tent. By Thursday, he did the opening for NBC's Today show then appeared with Matt Lauer and Co. For his next act, the overnight sensation may become a sports announcer.

Williams has been offered a job, and a house, by the Cleveland Cavaliers. "They said they're going to give me LeBron's (James) old house," Williams joked to Lauer Thursday about the offer from the Cavs.

NFL Films reached out to the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, which profiled Williams, to hire him for voiceover work, says NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live booked an interview with the 53-year Brooklyn native. He now has an agent who's fielding an avalanche of job offers and media requests. TheBigLead.com says he's become the "Jim Harbaugh of homeless people."

The former crack cocaine user has served several prison terms for theft and forgery and his rap sheet stretches back two decades, according to TheSmokingGun.com. But he says he's been clean and sober for more than two years. During an interview with CBS Wednesday, Williams said he's being compared to singing discovery Susan Boyle. He said he wants to reunite with his 92-year-old mother in Brooklyn. Here's Williams, sporting a haircut and some clean clothes, telling his story on CBS.

Despite his checkered past, the Cavaliers said their offer to Williams still stands.

"We believe in second chances and second opportunities," Tracy Marek, the team's senior vice president of marketing, told the Associated Press. The Cavs say details of their offer are still being worked out.

With an agent, multiple job offers and a great set of pipes, what's also next for Williams? Some voiceover gigs for sure. Maybe a book deal or a movie deal.

In a depressed economic environment, everybody's looking for an uplifting story. His story of redemption certainly fits the bill, especially if can keep himself on the straight and narrow.
