Chapter 5
“Not this one, can’t be this either…” I was in my closet picking out an outfit for today. Finally I decided to wear my yellow tennis shirt and white tennis skirt. I love tennis and I am really good at tennis. This year I don’t take tennis lessons but in the past 3 years I won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. Ally isn’t good at tennis, but she’s like a champion at Martial Arts and figure skating.
I put on my green crocs and hung on my lime backpack. Ally has the exact same one but she hangs some Dyrvamon toys on her backpack (you won’t know what those are unless you read Dyrvamon books!). I also hang them on my backpack, but I also have stickers of them on my name tag. Another difference is that Ally also hangs Pooh Bear toys you get in those machines for 2 dollars on her backpack. I called Strokses, put on her leash, and led her out.

We took out our laptops and sat down. Then I logged on to www.specialagenttrivia.sa and started reading the newest updated news. “Popping news! Ally and I stared at each other. It was perfect! “And guess what?” Ally asked. “What?” “Ellie is gonna be home exactly 1 week before the pet day. We could get her a doggy surprise---” she laughed, “---and she would have a week to train it! I think that’s enough time.” “Amazing!” I said as we did a leaping high five. That’s a high five while you leap into the air. Ally and I said together, “Let’s go!”

Ally and i grabbed our backpacks and ran downstairs. "Mother, can we go buy Ellie a dog for a surprise? There's gonna be a Pet Day at SATW and we really want her to go!" i knew SATW stood for Special Agent Trivia Workshop. "Sure, as long as you use your own money. And Monica can help you take care of it until Ellie comes back." "Hooray!"
Ally and I hopped onto our bikes and left her mom to take care of the 3 dogs. We rode down to the pet shop. “What kind of dog should we buy?” I asked. “I know Ellie loves Jack Russell Terriers and Golden Spaniels,” she answered. “Let’s get what we can.” Finally we got to the pet shop.
Ally and I went inside. There were barks, meows, squeals, and squeaks. It was exactly like when we got Strokses. We inched our way into the dog section through the crowd of people. Ally and I looked around. “Here’s a Golden Spaniel,” I said. “Who’s paying?” “I will,” said Ally, “but this is too expensive. Remember we also have to pay tax and for the collar.” “You’re right,” I said. So we kept looking.
Pretty soon Ally found a Beagle that just came out of a bath. “This one it is!” we said.
The worker got it out of the cage and helped us bring it to the counter. The cashier said, “I remember you,” she said. I laughed. “Yeah me too.” It was the cashier who worked when we bought Strokses. Ally paid and picked a collar with me. Then we bought a leash. Good thing I had a basket on my bike. I tied its leash to the handlebars and put it in its basket. It was already so well behaved!
When we got back, we let it go get used to Ally’s house. Ally and I had a lunch of fried rice (my favourite Chinese food) and chicken nuggets. After we ate, we ran upstairs, this time already knowing that the 4 dogs were all following us. Boy it was a really noisy day! There were 4 dogs in the house! Usually Ally’s mother should be annoyed, but today she was very glad. I guess she thought it was good of us to give Ellie a surprise.
“Wow! 15 unread e-mails!” Ally cried. I giggled. “I only have 6 unread e-mails, but that’s still a lot, right?” “Yeah,” Ally said, half giggling. Ally checked her e-mails while I checked mine. After we were done, I asked her, “What were your e-mails about?”
Ally didn’t look at me, as she was busy, but she said, “4 were junk mail, and the rest were from my friends. Although one was from Ellie.” “What did she say?” I asked. “She told me she found out that she was busy on the day of her plane trip so she’s taking a train here.” I frowned. “That means she will arrive here later and that she will have less time to train her dog!” “But we can train it for her,” Ally smiled. I smiled back. “Alright!” we did another leaping high five.
“Who are the friends that sent you the other 10 e-mails?” I continued. “Well, 2 of them are both from Janisa. You know how she always sends 2 of the same e-mail?” “Yeah,” I giggled. “Well, she’s inviting us to her birthday party in 4 weeks. And Ellie can come too!” “Really?” I was so excited! “Yes! The party is for her birthday, but it’s also to welcome back Ellie!” “Wow! Ellie will be so glad!”
