That I Am

Passion to life is like wings to the airplanes. Only when the arms of passion open up, the flight of life take off.

Run Downs of the Weekend

Friday afternoon, I dashed out of work at 3:40 to run to the bank for some cash to pay the babysitter.  To celebrate the start of summer and to allow Bobo a chance to enjoy the freedom of summer like other kids, I signed her up for soccer camp in the mornings, and arranged to have Voni babysit her for the afternoons.

The whole week, she didn't have to go to daycare.  Bobo felt so special that neighbors told me teasingly that she was "anti-social" -- She didn't want to play with neighborhood kids, and she could hardly spare time to talk to them.  She only wanted the babysitter for herself.  Poor girl, what a change she had to adjust to start daycare camps this week...

Saturday morning, like usual, Bobo came to my bed in the morning.  She loves my "warm knees", and can't get enough cuddling.  We goofed off till Joyjoy, the bunny we would be pet-sitting for a friend, arrived.  Joyjoy was an instant star amongst the neighborhood kids.  Every kid wanted to feel how soft she is.  With different groups of kids gathering up in the garage throughout the day, my initial concern was to make sure Joyjoy would not just hop off the cage when the door was openned.  She turns out to be shy, and so far shows no interest of running away at all.

I finally calmed Bobo down for a quick nap at 3:00pm.  At 4:00pm, we woke up and went to attend the Luau party at her friend's home.  It was unfortunately pouring buckets of rain.  How untimely.  Somewhat expectly though, the very science oriented handy Dad had a solution.  He covered up the big porch in the back with home made tarp solution, and managed to accomodate all 40 some guests comfortably .   Augie showed us the pit and how they roasted the food with the hot rocks, foils, cardboards and leaves; guests came in all ages and ethnics.  I felt amazingly comfortable in this mix.  It was even better when the Fijian guests/host started to sing spontaneously their festive songs - good voice, good food, easy conversations...  It was a very nice time.

What a surprise -- Sunday started out with a long goofy session of warm knees, hugs and kisses, and senseless fun again.  We finally got up to feed Joyjoy and took off to the "piggy ear" restaurant for brunch.  This time though we didn't order piggy ears.  We had fresh soy milk and Chinese pancakes instead.  Bobo has not beening eating "that" well.  This never-stop-worrying Mom of course asked her to show her tougn loads of times even though there was no real solution in mind at all whatsoever is shown.

Bobo didn't eat as much as to make this trip worthy of the drive, but Mom never gives up anyway.  We stopped by the Chinese grocery store to pick up her favorite aloe drink.  Bobo hates shopping except in dollar tree.  We decided before we went in that we would buy 10 or 15 of those this time so we would not have to come back in a looooong loooong while.

when it comes to shopping, Bobo has always been very good at making sure her Mom stays at her course and not get distracted by all other exciting offerings designed by those all so powerfu marketing team to entice her type of person.

We were so focused on our path that we didn't have baskets to hold the 15 bags we cleaned off the shelf.  After the bags repeatedly fell off from her arms, Bobo decided to get a basket.  I let her go and saw her little body dissappeared from the end of the isle.  Mom is usually very anal and never allow Bobo out of her sight in public places.  But now since she is seven, and she seems to want to get the basket without asking me to follow, I resisted the urge, and anxiously waited instead.

When that little pink floral skirt showed up again at the end of the isle with still messy hair flying in every step and a red basket in hand, it's a beautiful sight for a Mom -- a picture that I want to collect in my memory album and never to forget.   Nontheless, you can't show how proud or excited you were,  because it would indicate that you didn't trust they could do it in the first place.

We then met up with a friend to watch the movie Up -- very well done movie by the way.  While in the theatre, I received a good news from a friend that he found a buyer for my car.  Woohoo!  All in good terms.   We went to Borders afterwards.  I listened patiently, and without a lot of comment while the friend complained about her husband -- how familiar, my story a couple of years ago.  Now I only have to make sure Bobo and I are happy -- which both of us are eager to enbrace.  Life is good, every day, every where!  If only people are willing to open their arms to accept it!  There is really nothing I could do beside being a good listener there.

When we arrived home, Bobo dashed out of the car directly to her awaiting neighborhood friends while I joined the adultsin the lawn and accepted the beer handed to me.  The afternoon sun warm up  my face with almost burning heat.  I couldn't tell if the heat was from ths sun or the beer.  Either way, I'm OK with it.  We chatted while I noticed the weed was so tall in my side yard.  After one hour of hanging around with beer, chips and conversations, I roled up my sleeve and cleaned the weed.

Another day and weekend ended with my reading Narnia to Bobo.  Kissing her sweet little face in her sleep, I can't help but feeling so lucky and appreciative of my life.  I didn't go to church today, but Lord I worship you and I can't thank you enough for blessing me with the most lovely girl in the world, and keeping us healthy to enjoy every moment.
