AVID Program是啥？是给好学生还是差学生的program。政治正确的语言下面的困惑

我儿子还再初中，明年有一门课要到高中上，然后我就到高中网站去看了看。

高中有一个AVID Program，说是可以加快学生的学习。原文：

AVID accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.

表面上挺好。但是由于现在什么都讲政治正确，我都搞不清这是给优秀学生加快进度的还是让落后学生跟上来的Program。
