Love is / Before Sunset

(2006-02-14 09:00:06) 下一个

(I caught the second half of Before Sunset last night and just loved it. These are the thoughts inspired by the movie.)

Love is wanting to spend every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every month of every year of your life with the one you love.

Love is not knowing what's going to happen next and not caring, only wishing this moment will stretch onward infinitely.

Love is the opposite of rather being alone than feeling lonely with someone else.

Love is at ease, feeling adored and saying to him: mister i think you are going to miss your flight and he says: i know, as if that's the most natural thing in the world - yet in the meantime (his) feeling too much emotion to articulate a thing.

Love is being lost in the conversations, feeling the connection, experiencing the magic and being overwhelmed with the sense of drenched in love.

Love is rare.

(Btw, what do you think happens next, in the movie?)

chic 回复 悄悄话 Degree - "life's no rehearsal" - so true! Acting what you believe makes a person stronger. You have my support. : )

R.G. - did you peek into my mind or something? I was thinking about the exact thing (reading the transcript after watching the movie)! The dialogues are so ... exquisite. Thanks for the link! You saved me the time googling. ; )

reading it after watching it actually works...
degree 回复 悄悄话 i think maybe you are right by not wearing your heart on your sleeves. that way, one can protect it in a way that no one can hurt it as they wish. but it seems that i start to adopt the attitude that i would rather have myself hurt again and again in order to experience all the feelings i can have a chance to experience. life is no rehearsal.
chic 回复 悄悄话 R.G. - well said though I certainly hope that this cute little movie was inspired by something that actually happenend. oh well.

Degree - glad you liked this piece. : ) I was quite caught up by the movie.
I suppose we all approach life a little bit differently. Taking things seriously does not mean we can't laugh about it. Cynicism is not always bad just as sincerity is not always good. A heart, no matter how well guarded, how heavily shielded is still a heart.
I chose not to wear my heart on my sleeves, that's all. ;)
degree 回复 悄悄话 chic, i really like and identify your interpretation of love. one of the best blogs you've ever written. i can tell you must have experienced love. i like the way love is being idealized more than being portrayed in a cynical way. without passion and love, life loses its meaning.
R.G. 回复 悄悄话 well, it's part of the point, i guess.

but mostly i meant the sense of maturity and the urge of being immature, the growing habbit of being responsible and the temptation of letting your passion lead you to wherever it prefers, and the kinda relaxation even when you know that are struggling trying to balance them. and then you realize this is a just a cute little movie put out by two actors...
chic 回复 悄悄话 Congrats! What great news! Am so happy for you! I'm sure you will do a wonderful job. Now just relax and have a good time - once work starts you will no longer own your time (very sad yet very true).

Happy V day to you too!
M+M 回复 悄悄话 Happy Valentine's Day!

I finally got a job, sort of busy the past few weeks. anyway, just want to thanks for your help: ) if there's anything I can help with in the future, please let me know.
chic 回复 悄悄话 I think I know where you are coming from - there's a certain level of despair/end-of-road hopelessness emitting from both of them. His saying his marriage is like running a nusery and his "physical life" only better than some monks; and her saying that she used to be so romantic. Very realistic, is that your point?

On a different subject, I was thinking this morning, in relation to this movie, that it's so strange how different art/entertainment shapes our life. To me, books and music used to dominate my life and now it's movies. I guess it all boils down to some kind of escapism - the need to be somewhere but here, some other time but now. Oh well.
R.G. 回复 悄悄话 depending on how old u are, actually...

i would liked before sunrise better 10 years ago..but before sunset is better when you realized that u passed 30...
chic 回复 悄悄话 I don't know - I haven't watched it yet. But I will find out soon. I put that movie on the top of my Netflix queue and I will have an answer for you by this weekend.... : )

- I expect it to be wonderful. We shall see...
