You see what you see

Vicar of Dibley, one of my all time favorite British show, has an episode where the characters talked a bit of what’s on TV. 

Jim, ever so slightly dim and eccentric - most of the characters in this show are blissfully in this category - complained that every time he turned on the TV, all he saw was “sex, sex, and more sex”. 

Geraldine, aka the (woman) vicar of Dibley, responded that that’s because Jim you had your TV tuned to Playboy channel. 

I thought about this when I was doing daily 微博热搜 browsing. I was somewhat - dare I say - disappointed that almost all the hot topics there have been about the most stupendously stupid trivia’s of major or minor celebrities who are mostly greedy money grabbers. 

Judging by this furiously refreshed list of hot topics, one sees a heightened level of low intelligence in the mass in the motherland. And this is really worrisome on so many levels. 

But then I thought - referencing to the above mentioned scene from Vicar of Dibley - well turn off the bloody Playboy channel!

All fine and dandy. But then another chilling thought came to mind: what if this is the Only channel?
