It is one of Independent Lens’ films on PBS. If you like chorus, soul music, this film might be for you.
This film documents a group of lesbian/females in a small town in Illinois where most conservatives live. The founder of this group Kristina Boerger is a very talented music graduate. After being tired of a political activism, she formed this singing group called Amasong which indicates strong women (Amazon) + song. The film interviews a bunch of members in terms of how they came to join it, how people in their town see them, and as well as their family members.
What I like about it, mostly is the singing part. They sang so beautifully, Most songs are church songs, even though I am not a church person. Christina devoted herself to her music completely. It is entirely inspiring!
