陋室铭 – 刘禹锡

山不在高，有仙则名。水不在深，有龙则灵。斯是陋室，唯吾德馨。苔痕上阶绿，草色入帘青。谈笑有鸿儒，往来无白丁。可以调素琴，阅金经。无丝竹之乱耳，无案牍之劳形。南阳诸葛庐，西蜀子云亭。孔子曰∶“何陋之有？”

The charm of mountains does not lie in their height, so long as there are spirits, they are famous. The charm of waters does not lie in their depth, so long as there are dragons, they are sagacious. Though humble, the room does show my noble morality. Creeping onto steps, bryophyte sign was green; entering behind curtains, grass color becomes dark. Learned scholars are talking and laughing; no ordinary people are coming and going. I can play a simple lute and read gold Buddhist Scriptures. No vulgar music noise to disturb ears, no boring official papers to harm bodies. As for Zhuge Liang’s thatched house in Henan Province and Yang Xiong’s pavilion in Sichuan Province, Confucius said: “Where does the humbleness lie?”
