学金融，商业 （finance）是个好的选择吗？

高中senior的女儿一直想学医，该报大学了又想学金融，商业，发挥她数学好的优势。我们都是学理工科的，对商业不懂。
请问学金融，商业是个好选择吗？若学金融，商业，去纽约最好吗？哪个学校最好？
