the doctor visit went really smoothly. no crying at all, even during shot and blood draw.
she gained some weight and seems chubby when comparing to her height percentile.
the PD is fairly happy with her overall development. she is off diaper, talks in sentences, and eats anything. the only thing we need to work on is her thumb sucking habit. but since she is only doing it to calm herself to sleep, we don't have to worry too much (yet).
she only got flu shot today, she will be getting a second shot next month, anyone who gets flu shot at the first time will have to get two shot a month apart. so far, she doesn't have any side effect to the shot. but she had a longer afternoon nap, i am not sure whether that has anything to do with the shot.
the doctor is very concerned about stimulations cc is getting. the doctor stressed the importance of them and asked me to provide many speaking toys (to teach language), drawing supplies, blocks, etc. when i mentioned cc likes to pretend to do medical check up for others, she then told me to get cc a medical toy set.
PD told me the American Academy of Pediatric made a new recommendation for kids to have an extra well baby check up at 2.5 years. previously, there are only well baby check up at 2 and 3 years old. but the recommendation is pretty new, the insurance company might not cover such check up and the parents will have to pay for it. i will need to check with the insurance company later.
cc was very cooperative, she was nervous when the doctor wanted to give the shot, she tried to struggle a bit when she felt the pain. but the doctor did it really fast, we quickly comforted her everything was fine and done. cc didn't cry and both doctor and i were very glad for that.
the doctor was very impressed to cc's improvement for overcoming the fear of shots and doctor visit and gave her a sticker.
after the shots, cc had her blood drawn for anemia and lead testings. she was very hungry and i got her a bagel. cc held one bagel on her right hand, while watching the nurse cleaned her left hand. she felt the pain when the needle went into her finger, but she quickly forgot about it. she was surprised to see her own blood being drawn and told me :打针!! i correctly her: 抽血. she was very excited and even forgot to cry or escape. the nurse and others were very surprised they didn't hear any cryings or protests.
