另一条线上有加拿大的老中想到美国来退休.因为美国气候好,老中多. 有人说要想老中多,回国好了.
Recently, a friend of mine's son was suddenly sick - pneumothroax (his lung collapsed and causing serious breathing issue) - and was in hospital for a few days with two surgeries. The boy went to the hospital directly from school classroom and was treated immediately by a good cardiovascular-thoracic surgeon. The first operation was done within an hour. Now the boy stays in a local hospital, in a single room. The nurses take very good care of him. He is recovering rapidly. The student insurance he had covered everything including meals.
The boy's father is a successful early year's 海归, a rich and powerful kind. He was in China when this happened. The father's immediate reaction was: "ship him back to China and I'll make sure he got the best treatment in the country." He knows that means a lot of money and use all the influence he has. However, the quality of cares the big money and power could buy in China may just be the same as a humble student would get in America.
So, when you retire, with limited means of money and power, but a tired and vulnerable body, where do you want to be: China or America?
My choice is Vancouver, Canada, with reasonable weather, easily accessible Chinese convenience, good healthcare, good golfing, skiing, sailing, and an easy gateway to anywhere in the world I want to travel to.
