Changes in Sample Size

When performing Transcranial Doppler examinations large sample volume sizes are routinely used. This example shows the resulting spectral broadening in the waveform when a 5 mm sample volume size is used.

Carotid artery examinations routinely use much smaller sample volume sizes, 1-2 mm. Notice the difference in the spectral waveform when a smaller sample volume size is used.
