NH is tough, a real deal now with Paul really shining.
Spurs are very solid with the big 3, now adding Thomas, it's a great move, he would give Yao a lot more problem. I think they are still easily the team to beat in the West.
Big questions are behind Marvs and Suns. Harris and Marion are the guys used to give us fits. I don't see Kidd burning Rockets at all. If I was a Dallas fan, I probably don't like that move, but you never know. Albeit old, Kidd is still Kidd, a walking tripple-double any given day. But imagine Cuban missed the opportunity to trade Dirk or Shaq, but spent that much money on Dampier.
Marion is vital to Suns' success, and i simply believe he's more valuable to Suns than Amare. But, I am just a casual fan. However, Rockets may matchup against them more comfortably. Marion's shot blocking, rebounding and defensing will be sorely missed. Shaq wasn't himself long time ago, although he may still be motivated enough to play against Yao. But TMac will definitely shine without Marion hanging on him. Nash still has to learn to utilize Shaq. If I was a Suns fan, I wouldn't like that move either.
Lakers, no questions about it, they have upgraded with the Gasol deal. But I am still not sold on them. Kobe, the best player in the game, arguably. PJ one of the best coaches in NBA history. Gasol, a talented big man, albeit soft and no leadership, which makes him a great second banana. But his presence is somewhat offsetting Odom's role. Bynum, I think he's still a project, a very hyped project.
Rockets, IF, a big if, can have TMac playing at 85% of his best, and Yao can continue his January performance, Scola and Rafer continue with their improvement. They do have a chance, albeit remote one.
Damn, the West is just getting so frigging tough, while only 5 teams are above .500 in the East. Life is never fair:)
