Memories Last Forever

(2007-09-08 15:25:47) 下一个

Flamenco_girl’s
post The way we were brought my attention of this classic movie. Within 2 hours, I finished this little project.

The movie was wonderful indeed. First, it was starred by two of greatest actors and actresses, Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. Second, the story pictured the ordinary life of ordinary people, their romance and dilemma. Despite people’s temperaments, beliefs and dreams, the attraction and contradiction happen all the time.

Katie and Hubbell attracted each other by their opposite dispositions when they were in college. They fell in love and married several years later when Katie was working in a radio station and Hubbell as a writer. They seemed to be happy. But he could barely stand her push and expectation while she was least satisfied with his insensitivity and indifference to social events. The disparity deep down in their bittersweet relationship was hardly amendable that drifting apart was the only choice for them. They respectively pursued their own dreams by being themselves in the way they were while their shared unforgettable memories would last forever. Life long partnership was too luxurious for them yet friendship fit perfectly.

Usually, one could be attracted by those whose personality are either similar or opposite to his/hers, the latter is challenging yet intriguing. A relationship could be formed in both scenarios. However, it is unrealistic to expect a happy one by sacrificing the partner's ambition and unique personality, as the movie described, though some modifications for smooth development of a relationship is essential.

Please enjoy

The following is the song "The way we were". I like both the song and the video clip, simply because it is composed of Audery Hepurn's pictures, one of the most elegant women in the world. I am reading her stories written by her son, which focuses on her elegant spirit. Enjoy the video!

I think romantic to me is the feeling within. Good story lines coming from either external hurdles or internal ones (e.g. personality conflict).

I've linked your summary to the movie clips I had.

The movie described more about contradictions between theri personalities, their dreams, their social responsibilities and etc than their romantic feelings, I think. It indeed dealt with male/female relationships, which undoubtly is an eternal topic. :-)

I truly admire your success in career. Somehow my role model.

Cheers!
Flamenco_Girl 回复 悄悄话 Romantic stories are timeless, isn't it? I wouldn't have known it if it were not in Sex and City.

I'm in Virginia Crossing Resort now for a 2-days leadership meeting. I drove about 2 hours to this place this afternoon.
Dinner was great. Dr. Alan Gregerman gave a talk on corporate strategy. Also, we are given his book . The interesting thing is that I just listened about his book in PBS this afternoong during my driving to this resort.

Thank you, you made my day. The story is universal though the movie is almost as old as I am. :-)
