My friend told me that she was pregnant. “And it is a boy.” She added.
“Do you expect a boy?” I asked.
“I do not have any preference.”
“Really?” I doubted.
Before I was pregnant, I always strongly believed that I would have a baby girl. The reason was that the girl would fulfill or continue my dreams. I would retrospect myself through her life. Was I selfish and demanding too much? I wish her to be charming if not pretty. I wish her to be versatile and thoughtful. I wish her to be kind-hearted and independent. I wish to share the joy of her loving to the prince charming some day, to see her in wedding gown and finally lead a life with her Mr. Right happily ever after. I had to confess that I added my romantic dreams to my imaginary future daughter. J
However, my hubby expected a boy. “The simplest reason is” Hubby once told me, “The boy would look like you.”
What a sweet excuse! But I loved it. J
One day, I received a phone call from my OB/G doctor, “The baby is a boy.” She added after she told me the CVS test results.
“A boy?” I was shocked (not disappointed). “How could it be? I always believed the baby would be a girl.” I thought absentmindedly.
“Aren’t you happy?” My shock shocked the doctor. She asked carefully.
“No, no. I am definitely happy.” I quickly got my mind back. “Ha, this will be a perfect gift for hubby and parents-in-law. They all want a boy.”
Since then, I started to pay attention to baby boy’s clothes and toys. I started to establish a mom-son relationship instead of mom-daughter. It was an amazingly wonderful feeling to know a baby boy living in my body. When I first watched my baby sleeping quietly and comfortably, I realized that no matter the baby was a boy or a girl, babies were always our angels, our source of happiness.
“Let me tell you, there are some advantages of having a boy.” I told my friend.
“First, he will look like you. My son is like me very much. My hubby is jealous of it most. Not only appearance, but also personalities. Well, I did not expect my genes were so strong. But the fact makes me happy.” J
“The mom will be the minority when having a boy in the family, and also the queen. One woman with two men. They will fight for loving the only lovely lady.”J
“The boy is usually active and energetic, which will help mom to lose her weight while taking care of him. Surely, he will need plenty of nutrition, which will train mom to be a creative cook and invent new recipes.” J
“The boy will barely ask for expensive makeup, which will save much more money. He may not pay a lot attention to clothes either. Mom could take advantage of those saved money for building up herself as a more beautiful mom.” J
“The boy will be a good labor, which has been believed for thousands of years in Chinese culture. ” J

“Unfortunately, being a boy or even a man has disadvantages too. The worst one would be that he would forget mom quickly as soon as he marries his Snowwhite. LoL”
No matter what happens, my boy is always my boy.
What a girl's lovely dream!!! I never dreamed of having 3 boys. I don't think I am able to handle them.
You will be blessed to have both girls and boys as you expect. Just be patient. :)
When I was 23yr, I was in my OB/GYN residency. One of my nurses looked at my hand, affirmativly said my first kid would be a boy.
When I was 26yr, I got pregnant. At the 20th week, I knew it was a boy.
I always wanted boys........
Now I want girls even I only have one boy. But if God bless me another boy or more, I simply embrace them and hold them tight in my arms. :-)
