凸子尘报：Bush, Vietnam 和Iraq
On Friday, after 30 years American troops was driven out Vietnam, Bush became the second US president to visit the country. While his job was supposed to bring closer the economic ties between US and countries in the Pacific Rim during APEC summit, he's certainly bringing the world a lot of fun remarks too. Here are some of them.

Soon after Bush arrived in Hanoi, he was asked by a reporter what it is like to be an American baby boomer to be in the country. Bush said “It is amazing” [that the war has produced US more population than it costed.]
One should know that prior to Vietnam war, the number of Vietnamese-American population in US was almost none. It was after the War ended in 1975, the number has gone up quickly for refugees at first, and American-Vietnamese babies at last. It amounted 1 and half million by 2005. More than 60% of the population was added after 1990. On the other hand, the war costed US 56000 lives between 1965-75.

Bush also told the reporter that he found it poignant driving by the Hanoi Lake where former POW and Republican Senator John McCain parachuted when his fighter plane was shot down during the war. [Thanks to the Vietnam people for helping him to become such a great politician.]

Bush also seemed a bit regretful for himself. He commented “Did I think about going to the army post and saying, ‘Send me to Vietnam?’ Not really, I wanted to fly, and that was the adventure I was seeking.” [So you Vietnamese people, I had never thought to bomb you guys.]

While the white house has tired hard to avoid the comparison between the two wars in Iraq and Vietnam, Bush certainly can’t in his visit. “We’ll succeed unless we quit,” Bush told the reporters. [If we can’t succeed, you know what else we can do.]

Bush commented that the lesson learnt in Vietnam and defined the Iraq war as “We tent to want to be instant success in the world, and the task in Iraq is going to take a while.” [Thanks to the history in Vietnam, my administration is now not feeling alone if we quit.]

When mentioned the reconciliation of the relationship between Vietnam and US, Bush said that the experience show divisions can also be healed in time [not in force. Then, why not withdraw from Iraq. ]
