Voice Mail from Olivia

With Olivia being invited to two birthday parties this weekend, we agreed for me to leave work directly and pick up some presents for her friends today. While I was out, I ended up making the most of my opportunity to shop alone and started checking out a couple of my favorite stores at the mall.

I lost track of the time along the way and didn’t hear my cell phone ring until I had shopped for a while. It was Olivia asking me whether I got the gifts she had told me her friends liked and complaining that I didn’t pick up her earlier calls. “Mom, I called you five times already! One at your work and four on your cell phone!”

On my way to the parking lot, I started to listen to my voice mails and they were all from Olivia. The third one went like this: “Mommy, you don’t know how many times I have called you. I am getting really serious now. I am! I am really frustrated. I want you to reply to my messages and I am serious!”

The next and last voice mail from her: “Mom! I’ve called you five times! Please answer this message…Okay?!...All right…I really miss you.”

Awww…, she is so sweet and sounded so cute on the phone. I am really sorry that I have missed almost all her calls tonight :(.
